Marsha and Dale Elmore, camp owners, bought Waldemar in 1978 after Marsha returned as a counselor for the second time in her life. She directed the camp for the next 20 years ensuring that the traditions begun in the 1920s would continue to carry on and prosper. Their daughter, Meg Elmore Clark, took over as director in the summer of 1999 through summer 2008. In Fall of 2008 Meg and her family moved on to pursue additional camping endeavors and her mother Marsha gladly assumed the responsibilities of director for summer 2009. Marsha and her family strive to continue the traditions set forth by its founder Ora Johnson in 1926.

Teak and George Anne Elmore,
and son Shaylon

Teak Elmore, Marsha and Dale's son, holds the official title of Business Manager, but his many talents can be seen throughout camp. He has designed and built many of the camp's buildings and improvements and his involvement with Waldemar spans more than 30 years. His wife George Anne Elmore works as an assistant director for both the short and long terms. "G.A." runs the Camp Store and posts the daily news & photos on the internet during the summer sessions. She also manages the off-season business of Waldemar. Their family is blessed with a son, Shaylon, who attends a boys camp down the road, and who shows interests in all sports as well as art like his father and grandmother.

Liz Pohl, Head of Horseback Department
Liz Pipkin Pohl is not only the niece to the Elmore family, but she is a true Cowgirl! Liz took over the reins in the horseback department right behind Connie Reeves in 1998. She learned from the best and has carried on the rules and traditions that Connie instilled in the girls. She maintains over 100 horses with feed, shoes, and exercise. During the summer she orchestrates Reeves Riders, Connie's Cowgirls, Quadrille, Polocrosse and the Horseshow programs. Waldemar has been fortunate to have Liz on their staff since 1980. Liz is the mother of Robert and Sam Pohl who are also accomplished horseman.

Robin Harrel, Office Manager
Robin Harrel began working in the business office at Waldemar in 2007 for Teak Elmore. Since the beginning of Short Term 2009, Robin has taken on a much larger role as our Office Manager. Robin takes care of registering every camper and counselor as well as many other tasks. She updates the waiting list and talks to the parents and the Representatives and assists Marsha. Sometimes we joke that she is the "keeper of all things." Robin's family includes husband Lance and daughter Lexi.

Katie Blount, Assistant Director, Recruiter
Katie is from Longview, TX and is a fourth generation Waldemar camper. She joined the year-round staff at Camp Waldemar in the summer of 2008. She was a camper from 1995-2002 and a counselor/sponsor in the summers of 2005, 2006 and 2008. After graduating from LSU with a Marketing & Business Degree, she joined us as assistant to the Director and the Head of Recruitment. She spends a lot of time in the spring interviewing counselor applicants at schools around Texas and the surrounding states. She strives to hire the most qualified counselors for our Waldemar program.

Jan Cannon
Jan Cannon has been with Waldemar over fifty years. She has been a camper, counselor, and sponsor. She has and still can teach most anything at this camp with great confidence. She is 'the Jan of all trades.' She helps with maintaining and purchasing our camp inventory for classes and events.

Linda Pipkin
Linda English Pipkin, a former Waldemar camper moved to Hunt from Houston, TX with her husband John where she became part of our year-round staff. She has four children: Elizabeth "Liz" Pohl, Laura Kramer, Catherine Pickens, and son Stan Pipkin, all of whom have worked in some capacity for Camp Waldemar. Once her children were grown, she returned to the classroom officially. She taught at Ascension Episcopal School from 1991 to 1995, and was promoted to Head of School in 1995 until her retirement 14 years later. Linda's degree from Lamar University in Elementary Education was a primer for her life's engagements. With all her school experience Linda is quite an asset to all camp operations.

Johnny Borrayo
Waldemar is blessed to have this chef on our staff. His experience in managing restaurants, event catering, and even owning his own Cafes, make him more than qualified to oversee our gourmet dining. He has worked for Waldemar events for over 15 years, and joined our year-round staff in 2001. During summer camp he serves around 1300 meals a day with ease. Working with so many women and keeping up with all the traditional aspects in the dining hall, Johnny is absolutely extraordinary! Among Johnny's many talents he is also our off season mechanic. Johnny has a wife, Martha and two sons, Johnny Jr. and Michael, all of whom have worked in some capacity at Waldemar.

Noel Quinones
Noel is our Maintenance Supervisor who oversees building projects and improvements. Noel works hand in hand with Teak. He oversees a hard-working staff of 8 men, some who have been with Waldemar for over 30 years. Noel's family has been quite an asset to the camp as well. His wife Tomasa is part of our Housekeeping staff year-round. His daughters, Maribel and Elizabet have been an integral part of the Camp Store operations and eCamp Photos and News. His son, Noel Jr. also works alongside his father during the summer sessions.
